You Know Its Going To Be A Good Night When...

...it begins with the Pope chasing the Pink Panther down the road with a whip stolen from Indiana Jones. I learnt this last week as it was my friend Mitch's birthday and he insisted on good old fancy dress. The theme....well there wasn't one, you just couldn't be yourself! There are two people I have always wanted to dress as 1) Snow White 2) Madonna. I decided on the latter, figuring that I gave Snow White enough fancy dress time when I was a young one. Of course it had to be Desperately Seeking Susan Madonna, non of this leotard, 50 year old Madonna.
This, was my outfit.

I got into the groove, clearly.
Some highlights include:

Crayons giving the Pope a cake. 118 and Castro look on.
Photobucket
Madonna and Miami Vice

A leopord, ballerina and Madonna growling
I do love to dress up. Cannot wait until the next excuse to do so!

On Tuesday we are going out in fancy dress for my friend Mitch's birthday. My plan = Madonna/ Desperately Seeking Susan, This makes me nerdishly happy!
What little things make you smile?

Hope you all had a lovely valentines day. I spent mine with my mother, walking around Liverpool, eating in Wagamamma's, which I am sure the Boy is highly relieved about, as it got him off the hook.

Of course, everyone is blogging about this but a deserved tribute is being paid and I'm certain also by Cicely, Sally and Tori. So no words will suffice, lets all stand up and hold our hands to our hearts and be honest; nothing can really be said. We'll all care for a long time but we've had the best from him and we'll remember it for many, many years to come. So hats off and we'll all celebrate this legend in our own way.

Come On Skinny Love, What Happened Here?

At the beginning of this week Coco's Tea Party blogged about the S/S10 Balmain collection and the combat skinny pants featured in it. These to be precise:

Like her, I am also a fan of these trousers and thought they would be a nice addition to my little old wardrobe, though I was not on a conscious mission to hunt some out. Therefore, I thought it was ever so nice that when I decided to mooch into the centre of Liverpool yesterday and avoid the usual habit of going into topshop and making myself poor before I had even made it to the L1 shopping centre, I found these trousers in the Zara sale. £10 from £30, nicenice indeed. [Sorry for the uselessness of the photos, my room isn't the best place to take photos]

pic-a-pockets!
I love when you stumble upon things, and don't have to go through a mad search, don't you?
Though I must stop spending money! I told myself that the lovely visit to Cicely and Tori would be the end of my shopping for a while but this is a lie. I find myself doing it when I'm stressed, which I slightly am at the moment, trying to find a house for next uni year is pretty tedious and a long process! Going to go get Elle Collections and listen to Bon Iver! Hope you are all well!

I'm Not Whole

New Shoes! - all cost under a £10. Happy happy days.
Leather Shorts; lederhosen. I wanted them for aaages then they were £5 in the sale. You can hardly say no!

More bargain purchases you cannot refuse.

I definitely have an addiction to shopping at the moment. The amount of clothes I have and the amount of money i have do not go well together nicely. Tomorrows mission is to tidy my tip of a bedroom and find a few things I can ebay, so I can sleep easier at night.
I'm sorry this post is very short and i'm highly unsatisfied with it ( I wanted to dress up in all my new purchases and take some cool photos) but i've had an emotional couple of days; family things, my boyfriend leaving for a week and worst of all having to say goodbye to Cicely and Sally after a most wonderful long weekend together. So i'm just not feeling up to it, but did have the urge to post something. I will post again soon with something alot better, i promise.
Now does anyone have any brilliant ideas i can steal for my latest Uni project? I have to fill a sketchbook with stuff relating to a theme, which has to relate to a journey. Such as a caterpillars journey to becoming a butterfly, or a physical journey from place to place, like London to Paris. I just cannot think of a thing. Sally thought of a dragonfly but i have to have primary and secondary sources; I dunno where one would find a dragonfly.... Cheers if you can help!

In the room where you live

Armed with a camera and a new timetable which requires gives me stupid amounts of free time in the afternoon yet forces me to make my way to the other side of the campus for 9am, 2 hours seminars, I shall finally reveal my humble abode.

Aah student life, you're treating me well. Hope all you fellow students are enjoying the new term.

"Here Lies Carrie, She Had Two Great Loves, And A Whole Lot Of Shoes"

Shoes are a weakness for me. It's a shame really as they tend to be very expensive but they are lovely and a necessity. I'm very happy with the fact that in the last month I have required 4 brilliant pairs of shoes (one of which is for Cicely) at a very brilliant price. The total should of come to £535 but with sale, student discount and a gift card I spent a grand total of £66. I can't get over this fact. Here are the 3 new additons to my shoe collection:
Photobucket
[Topshop Unique Ankle Boots, Christopher Kane for Topshop, Peter Jensen for Topshop]
I love the heel on these. The main reason I had be coveting them for some time.
Photobucket
I also love that these and the Christopher Kanes are my only two pairs of shoes with actually grip. Extreme hiking anyone?

Our love was lost, but now we've found it.

I have exams soon, so naturally, any distraction, I am welcoming with open arms. I always find D.I.Y projects are a good little way to distract, as they take your mind off things and when you have done them, you have something to show, so really, it's productive and not pointless! Therefore time was not wasted. This is my way of thinking at least.

I currently have two D.I.Y's lined up, one is a simply shortening of this dress, which I found in a charity shop when I returned home from uni.

Think I may make a skirt using the excess material also. Nice and simple.

[Don't think my cats were amused with me disrupting their sleep]

The second is this dress I got for £1, from a charity shop, the day before I came back to liverpool. I love the pattern and thought, for £1, I could adjust it and if it went wrong, then o well!

Another thing distracting me, is creating a 2010 playlist, which I plan to add to throughout the year, which includes Ellie Goulding, Delphic, The Temper Trap and of course, Marina and The Diamonds.
Who would you put on your 2010 playlist?

Nonsense in the Dark

I have mixed feelings about H&M. Sometimes, I want everything in there, and others nothing tempts me even slightly. I was given a voucher for Christmas, however, and they have done very well.
Once upon a time, almost two years ago, I bought some fabulous wedges from H&M in the sale for £10. Since I bought them I have worn them at least once weekly almost without fail. Unfortunately they seem to be nearing the end of their life span, which is more upsetting than you would imagine.
Photobucket
Luckily, I was in H&M just the other day and I happened upon some equally fabulous and low-priced wedges (although slightly less high). Obviously, I bought them in two colours. These are the black ones; I also have them in Red. This is something I never do, and I rather surprised myself, but I knew I would regret it if I didn't!
Photobucket

I also splashed out on a ridiculously impractical and probably unwearable dress, but I don't care. I'll love it even if it remains a wall-hanging for my entire life. I managed to find a ring/bracelet, as well, for only three pounds. It fits badly but it's lovely all the same.

P.S. I went to see Nine. It's good; costumes are fabulous, but not quite what I was hoping for. Still see it though!

Nowhere Boy

So, first things first, I feel I must say sorry. I have been truely awful at posting. Mainly because my camera broke and then when I got a working memory card for it, I realised I had left the charger in Liverpool and the battery was dead. Yes, very smart of me. The other reason of course, is that is has been Christmas, so I have been busybusy catching up with chumlings and family, and unfortunatly, I have been way too busy with uni work.

Secondly! Happy New Year!! And I hope you all had a lovely, joyous little Christmas time!I love Christmas, a little too much, maybe. It was nice to have a white chritsmas this year, but at the risk of sounding like scrooge, I'm kind of sick of the cold now, so please get warm. Thank you weather.

I went to see Nowhere Boy the other day. Tori told me it was excellent and I was hoping it would be, but a bit worried as when people give me their opinion on a film, the expectations somewhat ruin them for me. However, Tori was not wrong. I loved it. I love Liverpool and it made me miss it, and secondly because I love that whole decade so really it was a winner from the start! After watching it, I had the biggest urge to don some red lipstick...so I did.

I highly recommend you go see it if you haven't. I realise this is hypocritical of me, as I am giving you my opinion and therefore building up your expectations. Sorry for this!

Also, my mum has offered to take me to London to see the Grace Kelly exhibition at the V&A. Exciting. I feel very 50s/60s inspired at the moment.
What you consider to be your favourite era?
