Susan got crafty

AS art can be a 'motherbitch' (this is Pamela's excellent word) but sometimes all goes well. This corset was the final outcome of a project entitled 'The Figure' So I made a corset out of cardboard and then spray painted it gold and attacked it with shoe polish to make it all antiquey and stuff. Here is my lovely friend "Janet" resplendently modelling it for me. She has perfected the 'you disgust me' face, no?

Rolling out those barrels took a year I tell you. Haha. Plug socket, that's what you get for using your kitchen as a set.

I know you can see inside the tubular things but I ran out of spraypaint alright.

If you think it's crap or have any suggestions do tell me, I enjoy constructive criticism.

Colour me in

I have a strange relationship with colour. I don't even contemplate the fact that what I wear may involve clashing colours, I don't think it through it just happens. At college we are known as 'those girls who wear bright colours'. I suppose we do stand out but it's hard not to when you're surrounded by denim and black, especially in winter. But recently I've been thinking about how I wear colour, and I'm thinking about wearing it more sparingly sometimes.
My main inspiration behind this is:

I'm calling these acid pastels. Sounds like a sweet. Or a drug. If you had've said I would be loving pastels a few months ago I would laugh in your face, but these I can get on board with! So here we go I went a bit crazy. I did my own little photoshoot. I really should get Pamela involved here but it's embarassing enough doing this on my own. If you find my dignity please return it to me.

I decided this Tuesday to just go for one big block of colour, seen here in Pamela's skirt which is not unlike a carpet in texture but lovely nonetheless. I wore my black boots as it was a a tad over the top for college with the heels.

Feel free to complain about the photos. I can't really believe I've done this, I hate photos, I am becomong very vain. This is bad. I will be posting when I can as I have an absolute barrelful of work. An art exam that begins on Tuesday and my Drama performance all day Thursday. My teachers are competing for my time. I would like some of it please!

Rush Hour Soul

I'm going to have to be very brief today sorry, though you may be glad of this! Here is what i wore today. Also sorry i couldn't picturise my outfit yesterday myself and susan dyed a load of things and paint splattered a t-shirt so i had no time! Susan will probably post about this in then ear future.
Jeans - New Look, Skirt - Vintage, Belt - Vintage, Girl T-shirt - Urban Outfitters, Lace Top - Topshop, Green under T-shirt - Zara, Cardigan - Zara.
I rather enjoy the many colours of my outfit today, it has to be said. I do like a bit of green with my red hair though!
I must insist that you download Trash by The Whip, absolutely immense song, it's reasonably old but my favourite song at the moment. Rave away....

Hair today, gone tomorrow

Aologies for the shit title. Its highly overused and very, very tacky, painfully so. But it seemed the most appropriate thing to say as I have literally had half my hair stolen. Well technically I did pay a person who is actually a hairdresser to do it so its not actually theft.

The first picture actually looks like I have extentions in anyway. I now look like a mushroom/lightbulb. It's gonna take some getting used to I tell you now. My face wasn't much more embarassing in the second photo but I don't usually pull the 'before' face in real life, though Pamela may tell you different, so its not really "me". I look mid-yawn.

UCAS Convention.

We went on a college trip today to Manchester for a UCAS convention, where loads of universities were represented and basically we had to pick up thousands of heavy prospectus' ( I felt ridiculously guilty about the amount of trees that had been wasted). So this is the outfit i wore to it. Primark Cardigan and shirt, Miss Selfridge Necklace, M&S tights, Vintage belt, the skirt was given to me by a cousin but I took it up last night to make it wearable. It's a size too big for me actually but its strange denim so i can wear it around the hips or higher waisted, the latter i did today but you can't really tell on these photos. We finally got a compliment today from a woman representing Plymouth College of Art and Design, this makes a nice change from all the abuse we usually get about what we wear. So thankyou to that woman.
University is such a daunting idea, i have no idea what to do with my life at all. So choosing a course is going to be extremely difficult. I'd love to do something in fashion but i don't think i'm skilled enough as there is A LOT of competition. I'm counting on Susan becoming successful in this area so i can bask in her success by wearing things she buys, gets given or designs herself. I'll probably just keep fashion as a love rather than a career, though i'll probably change my mind about this in a minute. I've been considering all sorts of careers recently, anything from Museum Curater to Film critic. Ahh who knows where i'll end up. Hopefully in Fashion!

Sorry for rambling.

Die Heutige Outfit

Ahhh wrinkly hand, sorry! My outfit today was a bit of a risky one, with the weather and all it was very short, but i just couldn't resist. I really love this dress, the floral part of the outfit, although i have to confess it's not mine it's my sister's. What's her's is mine I like to think. It's a shirt dress actually from Primark ages ago and in a size too small for me, so i remedied this by wearing a t-shirt over the top. The top is from Zara, Tights are Oasis, Boots are my Mum's from the 80's and the grey sleeve is part of a plain t-shirt from Primark.

Forever in my heart

What an embarassing title.

I have many times read the heartache of non British readers in awe of Topshop but now the tables have turned. Forever 21 is excellent! Sadly the other side of the Altlantic is a little out of my reach, even if I did have the funds to purchase my desired items. Though the stuff is cheap, still out of the reaches of my tiny pockets.

There's all the designer stuff as well but it took me so long to wade through the rest of the collection I don't have the energy. I particularly like the collar and cuff sets. Lovely. I do hope this picture enlarges on clicking, this feature seems to be temperamental on our blog. It depends on a factor, but what, I just don't know.

Snow is falling!

This is the lamp post between mine and Susan's houses at this very minute in time. It's a-snowing! Yippee! Perhaps there will be a snow day at college again, there was one a few years back which was absolutely amazing. Or we'll just have to wrap up nice and warm tomorrow.

Minnie Mouse

This is the outfit i wore today. I'm aiming to do more like these posts, of my outfits but it's very difficult as my house is always full of people and none of them know about this blog. They'd just keep asking what i'm doing and such and i'd have to come up with elaborate excuses everytime. But i will do my best!
I realise that Minnie mouse wore a lot of red and not much pink but with the polka dots and bow, well you get my gist. This wasn't intentional at all, but now i've stumbled upon the idea it's a good one for fancy dress if i jazzed it up a bit!
The spotty shirt is Dorothy Perkins, but from i while back, the pink dress underneath is Oxfam, Silver belt i'm not sure where it came from because i stole it from my sister's room and the jeans are Primark.
We've had two sandbags chucked into our garden now, silly little yobs! Why can't we have the diversion sign? We've clearly offended them in someway. I'll be quite interested to see how Suse gets the diversion sign to stay on her wall though!

McQueen and the Queens

I've always admired Alexander McQueen from an artistic, yet unwearable, point of view but this collection is BEAUTIFUL. And I don't use that word. I would gladly wear it all, every day, for ever. This is what all royal people should wear. He's mixed so many time periods and cultures and come up with some amazing, beautiful and original designs.

Since I was a young one I was amazed by extravagant dresses. The whole idea that women wore these amazing dresses was unfathomably excellent. I loved the massive skirts, tiny waists and the painstaking detail of the fabrics and embroidery.

I reckon I was 17th century aristocracy in a past life. Quite a step down to shopping in Primark and living in a certain Yorkshire town.

This kind of stuff makes me want to be a costume designer, or just really rich and then I can just wear these dresses and everyone will think I'm a bit wierd but it's ok because I'm loaded and eccentric. Oh if only.

The closest I'm going to get right now is this underskirt from some bridesmaid dress. My mum found it in the attic when she was searching for fancy dress items. Seriously you don't want to know.

Just add Pamela's Ralph Lauren Top and that's an outfit worthy of royalty, right there.
Speaking of random stuff I have found, look what some lovely youths kindly threw into my garden:
That's going on my wall. All Pamela got was a sandbag.
